The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for new digital learning models and the digital skills required to access them. Significant shifts in industry structures and functions have also changed the prospects for job seekers and workers in the countries. Against this background, digital technologies became an essential feature of a well-developed skills development system, supporting this transition and leading to a rapid diffusion of skills. Yet, there is limited knowledge of what these solutions may entail, their impacts on skills development outcomes and jobs, and the policy framework to accelerate their development and deployment.
Recognizing these challenges, this Forum will address the policy strategies to facilitate the digital transformation in the skills development system, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to support customized and lifelong learning pathways and promoting regional cooperation and knowledge exchange to establish an effective digital ecosystem for HRD. It will bring together global knowledge and country experiences to stimulate discussion on reimagine, re-set, and rework skills and employment.
