Singapore hosted the 9th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APT JSO) for the first time from 20 – 23 June 2022. Designed around the theme “Building an Environmentally Sustainable Future”, this year’s event will bring together 26 teams from the ASEAN Plus Three countries and an observer team from Sweden. Each team, which comprise up to three students and one teacher, was selected based on their sustainability challenge project submissions open to all schools earlier in February. In this four-day event, students will participate in science challenges and workshops, and interact virtually with sustainability researchers.
Established in 2012 by the ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), the APT JSO aims to encourage talented secondary school students in the ASEAN Plus Three countries to stimulate their intellectual curiosity and motivate them to pursue careers in the field of science and technology. The event also provides students the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals, and form friendships and networks in the ASEAN Plus Three region. This year, the event is organised by the Ministry of Education, Science Centre Singapore and ACGS, in partnership with NUS High School of Mathematics and Science.
