Joint Press Statement of the Third ASEAN Directors-General of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs Divisions of Ministries of Foreign Affairs Meeting Plus Three Consultation (3rd DGICM+3 Consultation)
The 3rd DGICM + 3 Consultation was held in Nha Trang, Viet Nam on 15 August 2024. The Consultation was co-chaired by Major General Pham Dang Khoa, Director General of the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam, and Mr. Shimizu Hiroki, Associate Commissioner of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan. The Consultation was, attended by the Heads of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs Divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK), as well as representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat. Timor-Leste attended as an Observer.
The Consultation exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration within the DGICM + 3 framework in the areas of immigration, consular affairs, and border management. The ASEAN Member States expressed appreciation to the Plus Three countries for their continued support and assistance toward ASEAN’s efforts in enhancing the capacity and capability of ASEAN immigration and consular authorities.
